They're not all my kids, but they all look alike.

On Easter we got all of the Valentine cousins together for a big Easter egg hunt and dinner. Aren't they cute?! That's all I have to say because although I'm trying to post more, it's not going very well. I'm just so tired from mothering five children. Oh, and I've decided to use the term "mothering" more, in order to encapsulate what it is I do all day and night. It sounds so refined, don't you think? (Did you also notice how I'm making a conscience effort to mention how many children I have whenever I can? I mention it as an aside because I'm still trying to appear more mysterious which is NOT going very well, thanks for asking.)

Lisa - no blog guilt! That is so 2007! 2008 is all about blog if you won't and don't if you don't want to. If people want to know what is going on in your life they should hire a baby sitter and take you and your husband out to dinner. Or invite you and all of your children to a lovely tour of a cheese factory in a certain NW state. I'm just sayin...

Your kids are beautiful. I can't wait to make my little boys wear suits.

Ok, that little plaid suit coat of Hugh's is killing me. I LOVE it. Such a Robert Valentine.

You need some serious "marked down after Easter" chocolates. And a full caffinated, sugared Coke Classic to knock them down with. (the chocolates, not the kids silly.)

Cute! My favorite things in the picture are Hugh's outfit, Hugh's expression, and that dark-haired, purple-lipped baby!

Miles, using only his arms, somehow forms a chaise lounge for Margaret.

Mothering five is no small feat. Why, as the mother of five myself, I...oh, who cares. I'm tired, too.

Question.. how did you get all those kids to sit there so perfectly, with smiles.. no one looked like they were trying to escape, none of them looked like they were going to throw up, no screaming, no pushing, no fighting.... just simple, innocent, pure happy little ones? Oh wait.. is that Grandma? Mysterious... You, my friend, are a woman of many talents!
I especialy feel a connection... Margaret has been given the gift of the Superman pose.. only special brothers, such as hers, could pull that off with such perfection!!

You mother 5 with poise. I like how you don't get mad at your kids, you just act nicer and sweeter (even when you really are mad). I'm going to try to do that.

Your kids are gorgeous. And I think I really need to hold Margaret. She is killing me with those cheeks!

I think "mothering" is perfect. Use it all the time. You mother of 5 children you.

I love how Eric Snider refered to you as "usually pregnant"in his ode to LoveSac.

I think it's the outfits that make them look alike. But I'm just goin' out on a limb here.

I, too, am busy mothering and I only have 3 on the outside (maybe it's that one on the inside that killing me-I've already cried 3 times today)! Hang in there, someday I'll come down and bring you a turkey sandwich, until then....

Gina, you're all talk! I'm still waiting for my turkey sandwich when I was pregnant with Hugh. He's 3. I'd bring you one, but you live on top of that mountain.

Oh, that last comment was Lisa, not Topher. . .who has never been pregnant.

Lisa, I'm hoping I happen to land in your ward when we buy a house in the next couple of weeks. You're so cool. And I like what josh said about blog guilt. Amen to that.

Lisa, what a fun blog. Almost as fun reading it and looking at your cool pictures is reading the comments. What a bunch of funny people you have in your life.

I will be the one voice of boring.

Here's the recipe. You will be so impressed about how long I slaved in the kitchen for your hungry tummies:

Cherry Cream Cheese Pie--which obviously your's was not because when I went to get the cherry pie filling in the basement it got up and walked away so I sauteed some apples with butter, cinnamon and sugar.

1 graham cracker pie shell
8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup lemon juice

1 can cherry pie filling

Put cream cheese, SC milk and vanilla in blender and blend the heck out of it. Add lemon juice, blend, pour into pie shell and chill. Open a can of cherry pie filling and pour over the top.

Pretend it took a long time and that your family is lucky to have you working so long in the kitchen.

What a beautiful bunch of kids. I love reading your blog and seeing pictures of your family. I like how you use the term "mothering". I am going to have to start saying that when people ask what I do all day...as if taking care of five kids just isn't enough.

Hi Lisa
Am enjoying your blog, which I found after trying to get to "lightrefreshmentsserved.com" (didn't work)...how do you like your new "notoriety?" (after the LDS Living article today)...I live N. of Calgary, Canada - I'm a breastfeeding researcher and univ. student, mom of nine, grandma of eight, and tonight, after midnight...am still "mothering"! waiting up for my youngest,14,to come back from doing a Calgary Stampede performance....it never ends (seriously) but it does get much better...
Keep up the good work.
All the best, Jackie
