Good Karma

Lorien tagged me. I'm it. And since I'm the neighbor who never does one of those special "make a copy of this note and give a treat to two neighbors. . . " game my part of town is so fond of, I thought I'd be a good sport this time. It's that time of year for it anyway. Maybe it's just the 10 year-old inside of me who worries that if I stop the chain letter, something bad will happen to me. Here are five things you might not know about me:

1. I got a perfect score on my sixth grade science fair entry "How Does Yeast Make Bread Dough Rise?" Ironically, after many different receipes and hearty attempts, I, to this day, cannot make a decent loaf of bread.

2. I was on the Mayor's Water Conservation Task Force in Lincoln, Nebraska. I dare anyone to beat me in a game of High School Trading Cards.

3. I've always wanted to pierce my nose. I think it looks pretty, I really do.

4. I was in three different swing choirs in jr and sr high and once, in an old folks' home during my big solo, a man collapsed right in front of me and I kept singing. The paramedics came.

5. When Christopher and I got engaged, we both had braces (for the second time).

I tag: Wendy Sue, Bek, and Topher (again).

Good to know I'm not the only one who just doesn't "get" those little neighborhood chain-letter-cookie plates. You mean you're supposed to pass it along? what?

As for nose piercing, I think a tastefully sized gem looks nice, too. But I just don't get how they avoid big booger hang-ups on the earring back. Are there special booger-proof backs? Seriously. I think about it every time I see a nose ring. I saw a girl with a loop in her nostril just the other day, and I found myself thinking how bad that could be with a runny nose.

#1) Lorien, I have wondered the same thing about the nose piercing booger issue. Lisa, did you like it before England? I didn't mind it, but after living there I think it looks pretty too, but would hate the nose issue.

2) You say you can't make bread, but you make delicious cinnamon rolls that are fluffy and wonderful. Remember the weekend we got Jacob? I came over to your house on Sunday (conference) and you made cinnamon rolls. Jacob was born two days later and you gave him his first bath. Those memories will always be tangled in my mind. ;_)

3) I guess I am an idiot, but I don't know what it means to be tagged? I have heard people say things like "oh, I am tagged" but what am I supposed to do? Don't make fun of me...I just found out the proper usage of the word Hella and what Holla Back means.....

I also think nose piercings are cute. I dated a guy (Courtney's favorite thing that I say) who had a nose piercing and it is a LOT of work cleaning out the nose. So gross.

Bek, you're it. You blog five little-known things about you and then tag others.

Bek, I DO remember Jacob and the cinnamon roll weekend! That receipe is courtesy of Gina. It's fool-proof. And, no, I wanted to do it back in high school. Pierce my nose, that is.

Can I butt in here to ask: what does Holla Back mean?

And, to Jenny Eckton: were you involved in the nose cleaning out of the old boyfriend? I'm guessing and hoping no, but the visual is strong, very strong.

Uh...no. I walked in on it once.

I am not sure if there are 5 things that people don't know about me. I tend to word vomit to everyone in the world......

. . .and you had your picture in the newspaper with your science fair project!! Lisa, someone (I think it was Tyley for some reason) had that article from the newspaper and gave it to me. . .I have to find it and send it to you! Although I'm sure your mom has it well documented!

I had a great laugh reading about the nursing home guy! Major flashback to the Irving Spirits Swing Choir, we were awfully popular in those nursing homes!

I love the whole Show Must Go On Ethos. Because the rest of the crowd needed to hum along to Pennsylvania 6-5000, instead of being reminded of their own mortality.

PREEE-cisely! Poor guy's lying on the floor with a medical team working over him, but I'll divert everyone's attention. . . by. . . singing. . . Can't stop this train!!!

Um, what is swing choir? In California we have no arts programs because it would cut into football and science, and it might incite a lawsuit.

W had a nose ring for about a month. It was not too bad, but it made him look like Freddie Mercury a little bit.
